Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Solanaceae

A family of some 90 genera and 2600 species of herbs, shrubs and small trees, widespread in both tropical and temperate regions.  The family contains many plants of considerable economic importance for food and because of their medicinal value.  [FNSW].  Represented in the Hortus by a number of ornamental species and by some vegetables and other economic crops [to be added later].
