Frost tender evergreen shrub with shiny, laurel-like leaves and solitary yellow flowers in summer, followed by plum-like berries. To 1m. [RHSD].
Diospyros ebenum Koenig ex Retz.
Frost tender, large tree with smooth branchlets, thick, elliptic leaves, to 15cm long, and small white flowers. The heart wood is jet black, very heavy and strong, considered to be the best form of ebony. [RHSD, Hortus].
Diospyros lotus L.
Fully hardy, spreading deciduous tree with lance-shaped leaves, to 12cm long, and tiny, bell-shaped, red-tinged green flowers in summer, followed by inedible, spherical to ovoid, yellow to purple fruit, to 2cm across, on female plants. To 10m. [RHSE, Hortus, Hilliers’].
Diploglottis australis (G.Don) Radlkf.
Half hardy, medium-sized to large tree, its young leaves and branches covered with rusty down, with pinnate leaves, to 60cm or more long, composed of up to 12 elliptic leaves, to 30cm long, and large, panicles of many small flowers. [RHSD, Hortus, FNSW, Beadle].
Dolichandrone spathacea (L.f.) Schum.
Frost tender tree with pinnate leaves composed of up to 8 pinnae, and racemes of large, fragrant, nocturnal, salverform white flowers. To 20m. [RHSD, Don].
Dombeya wallichii (Lindl.) K.Schum.
Large shrub or small tree with lobed, cordate leaves and drooping umbels of scarlet flowers. To 9m. [RHSD, Hortus].
Doryphora sassafras Endl.
Large, aromatic tree with elliptic, coarsely serrated leaves, to 10cm long, and short axillary peduncles of, usually, three white flowers in early spring. The timber of the Sassafras is of some commercial value. [RHSD, FNSW, Beadle].
Dovyalis caffra Warb.
Spiny shrub or small tree with glossy, oblong-ovate leaves and inconspicuous green or yellow flowers, followed by edible spherical fruits, to 4cm in diameter, with an apricot odour. To 6m. [RHSD, Hortus].
Dracaena species unknown
Possibly Dracaena concinna Kunth., from Madagasdcar. An evergreen shrub with lance-shaped green leaves, to 90cm, margined with red. To 2m. [RHSD, Hortus]. another possibility is Dracaena deremensis Engl., from Tropical East Africa. A spreading shrub with leaves to 70cm, usually variegated in cultivated plants, of which there are many varieties, and terminal panicles of dark red flowers in clusters of 20-30. To 4.5m. Duranta erecta L.
Frost tender, erect to spreading, bushy shrub or small tree with ovate to obovate, somewhat toothed leaves and pendant axillary panicles of small blue, purple or white flowers in summer, followed by yellow fruit, to 1cm across. To 6m. [RHSE, Hortus].
Duranta erecta L. var. Mexicana
Probably a variety of Duranta erecta L. of which there are several although I have found no specific reference to Mexicana.

Frost tender evergreen climber with angular, ribbed stems, 2-pinnate leaves with terminal leaf tendrils, and many-flowered racemes of scarlet, deep orange or golden-yellow flowers. [RHSD, Hortus].
