Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Arecaceae

A family of some 217 genera and 2500 species of arborescent palms from tropical and sub-tropical regions.  The family contains some plants of great economic importance including the Date Palm and Coconut.  [FNSW].  Represented in the Hortus by a number of ornamental species as well as the Date and Coconut Palms.
