Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Ficus carica ‘Figue Verte’

A cultivar of Ficus carica L. I have found no description of ‘Figue Verte’. Probably John Macarthur’s ‘green, white within’ variety.

History at Camden Park

Listed in the 1845, 1850 and 1857 catalogues [Fig no.6/1845]. Possibly the ‘Green, white within’ variety donated to the Sydney Botanic Garden by John Macarthur in 1824. This was possibly collected by John Macarthur on his tour of Europe with sons James and William in 1815-16.
