History at Camden Park
Listed in the 1850 and 1857 catalogues [T.137/1850]. ‘The Bauhinia from the same locality [Pine River] will probably be good, […] I believe [it] to be undescribed.’ William Macarthur to John Lindley, 15th February 1848 [MP A2933-1, p.157], to whom he sent a plant raised from seed collected by Leichhardt. In the list of plants sent to Lindley, Macarthur comments that it is ‘said to produce blue flowers.’ Also sent to Sir William Hooker at Kew at around the same time [MP A2933-1, p.165]. This is one of the plants that William Macarthur successfully raised from seed collected by Ludwig Leichhardt on his first expedition.
