Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Sinningia speciosa ‘Maxima Alba’

A cultivar of Sinningia speciosa (Lodd.) Hiern. See Sinningia speciosa ‘Maxima Discolor’ for detail.  Probably a form with pure white, or almost pure white, flowers.  I have found no specific description.

Figured are four slipper gloxinias, three pink and white and one pure white.  Fitch (Floral Magazine), 1861.

Fitch (Floral Magazine), 1861.  Early Florist's gloxinias.  The pure white flower is probably very similar to the variety ‘Maxima Alba’.
