Cormous perennial with soft, caudate and wavy-edged leaves, flowers bright carmine with a deeper throat. [RHSD, Hortus].

‘This pleasing little plant is a native of Greece, and is said to have been introduced in 1816. It produces its flowers in the month of May: they last a considerable time, and will occasionally bear ripe seed.’ [LBC no.1942/1833].
