History at Camden Park

Listed only in the 1857 catalogue [T.580/1857].  Ipomoea purpurea (L.) Roth is common in the Camden area in a range of colour forms although a purple-pink predominates.  Interestingly, the colour form violacea is particularly common in the vicinity of the gardens at Camden Park.  I have raised this form from natural pollination for several generations from a population isolated from other forms only by some 50 metres and it continues to come true to colour.
