Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Tiliaceae

A family of some 50 genera and 450 species of shrubs, trees and rarely herbs, widespread in tropical and sub-tropical regions with a few temperate species.  Some species yield valuable timber.  Jute is obtained from one of the few annual herbaceous species.  [FNSW].  Represented in the Hortus by 2 ornamental species.
