Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Lecythidaceae

A family of some 20 genera and 250 species of shrubs and trees from tropical South America and Madagascar.  Contains a few species of economic importance, including the Brazil Nut.  Once included in Myrtaceae.  Represented in the Hortus by a single species of shrub.
