Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Araliaceae

A family of some 80 genera and 1150 species of shrubs, trees and climbers and scramblers, rarely herbs, mainly from tropical regions but with some notable examples from temperate regions.  One species has in the past been of some importance as a source of rice paper.  [FNSW].  Represented in the Hortus by a number of ornamental climbers and trees.
