Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Salicaceae

A family of 4 genera and some 350 species of shrubs and trees, widely distributed in temperate and sub-arctic regions, mainly in the Northern Hemisphere.  A few species are used for timber and basket weaving.  [FNSW].  Represented in the Hortus by 8 species of tree, several of them of some utility.
