Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Haemodoraceae

A family of some 14 genera and about 100 species of rhizomatous, bulbous or tuberous perennial herbs from South Africa, Australia, New Guinea and also America.  Some species, notably the Kangaroo Paws are of economic importance for cut flowers.  [FNSW].  Represented in the Hortus by 2 species of Wachendorfia, South African ornamental plants.
