Ebenaceae

A family of 5 genera and about 450 species of shrubs and trees, mainly from tropical and sub-tropical regions.  Some species are of economic importance for timber, e.g. Ebony or fruit, e.g. Persimmon.  [FNSW].  Represented in the Hortus by 4 trees and shrubs.
