Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Bromeliaceae

A family of some 50 genera and 1000 species of typically stemless herbs, usually with spiny leaves and often epiphytic, from Central and South America and the Caribbean.  [RHSD].  It contains one species of considerable economic importance, the Pineapple.  Represented in the Hortus by a handful of ornamental species plus the Pineapple.
