Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Araceae

Predominantly a family of perennial herbs, sometimes aquatic or climbing.  The family consists of some 110 genera worldwide and 2500 species, some of great economic importance, particularly those producing starchy roots, such as the Tarot.  [FNSW].  Represented in the Hortus by a small number of ornamental species.
