Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Anthericaceae

A family of rhizomatous perennial herbs of some 20 genera and up to 500 species from southern Africa, South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and neighbouring islands.   The roots are tuberous, fleshy or fibrous, the leaves forming a basal rosette with an erect, largely leafless scape bearing a terminal inflorescence.  [FNSW].  In some systems included in Liliaceae.  Represented in the Hortus by 3 species from Australia and New Zealand.
