Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Alliaceae

Perennial, bulbous herbs with linear leaves.  The family consists of 30 genera and some 700 species, primarily in the Northern Hemisphere.  [FNSW].  Alliaceae includes a number of important food plants and culinary herbs.  Represented by three ornamental species in the Hortus but a wide range of vegetables belonging to this family were also grown at Camden Park.  Certain genera are often included in Amaryllidaceae.
