Notice

Colin Mills, compiler of the Hortus Camdenensis, died in late November 2012 after a short illness. As he always considered the Hortus his legacy, it is his family's intention to keep the site running in perpetuity. It will not, however, be updated in the near future.

Aceraceae

A family of 2 genera and some 150 species of usually deciduous trees or large shrubs from temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere.  Several species are economically important as the source of timber or of Maple Syrup.  [FNSW].  Represented in the Hortus by a small number of ornamental species plus the Sugar Maple.
